The Parliament sees its role not only in promoting democratic decision-making in Europe but also in supporting the fight for democracy, freedom of speech and fair elections across the globe and Democracy Human rights are among the main priorities of the European Parliament. Parliament is a key actor in the fight for democracy, freedom of speech, fair elections and the rights of the oppressed.

Siegfried Mureșan (born September 20, 1981) is a Romanian economist and politician. A member of the People's Movement Party, he was elected to the European Parliament for Romania in 2014. In the parliament, he is Vice Chair of the Committee on Budgets. As of January 2015, he also holds the position of spokesman of the European People's Party (EPP). In February 2015, he was elected first vice president of the PMP at a party congress. 

In 2011, Mureșan takes the position of political advisor on economic and social matters of the European People’s Party (EPP). In January 2014, he becomes Senior Political Advisor. In March 2014, Mureșan becomes a member of the People's Movement Party, runs for the European Parliament elections of May 25, 2014, occupying the second position on PMP’s list. Following the results of the elections, Mureșan obtains a five-year mandate in the European Parliament.
