Executive Manager (School)

Our school has a curriculum for life, one aimed at engaging students to address real world problems, issues important to humanity, and questions that really matter. This is a dramatic departure from the factory-model education of the past. It will increasingly move away from textbook driven, teacher centered, paper and pencil schooling, introducing new ways of understanding the dusty concepts of knowledge and the educated person.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • University degree in a related field (management, engineering, maths, physics, chemistry teachers, etc. with big attention to the details);
  • Very good English, Romanian language knowledge, very good computer and internet skills;
  • Very good financial management knowledge and management of Profit and Loss and budgets;
  • Passion for voluntary work in the benefit of the community;
  • Open minded, implementing the Kaizen concept continuously;
  • 5 or more years of progressive management experience;
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage and develop efficient, high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives; 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, being a persuasive communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills;
  • Determined, result-orientation, entrepreneurial and adaptable skills with innovative approach to business planning; resource attraction, resource management, work efficiency in collaboration with diverse groups of people with passion, integrity, a positive attitude, being mission-driven, problem-solving in a legal, moral and ethical way.

The Royal School will open the doors starting with September 1st, 2015 in Cluj-Napoca. Around 240 pupils aged 4-18 are welcomed to study in our school, which was originally founded by School For Europe Foundation, with the aim of developing the individual talents of every child. The Royal School is one mile close to the city center of Cluj Napoca, in a certified green building set with beautiful surroundings.

The Royal School is looking to appoint a full time Executive Manager responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization according to the School For Europe Foundation’s principles, values and strategy.

The Executive Director will inspire confidence and trust, operate collaboratively with the founders of School For Europe Foundation, with a diverse group of staff, pupils, parents and prospective parents. S/he is expected to participate in strategic/operational planning and implementation, organization development, dealing with internal and external issues affecting The Royal School. Also, this person will foster effective team work and represent the organization at community activities to enhance the organization's profile.

The ideal candidate should monitor the day-to-day delivery of the programs and services of the foundation in order to maintain or improve quality and ensure an efficient, performant, positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations. As well, s/he will implement a performance management process for all staff to monitor the performance on an on-going basis and conduct an annual performance review.

The Executive Manager will be involved in research of funding sources, oversee the development of fund raising plans and write funding proposals to increase the funds of the organization. Also s/he will have responsibilities in planning and approval of expenditures within the authority delegated by the School For Europe Foundation and detailed planning and executing strictly the budget with periodically status reporting towards to the Founders.

The expected knowledge for this position includes leadership and management principles in non-profit/voluntary organizations, good knowledge of legislation applicable to voluntary sector organizations and experience in human resources, financial, fiscal and project management.
